Loenen aan de Vecht

A protected village on the Vecht

Loenen aan de Vecht is a village in the Vecht region of the province of Utrecht, designated a protected village conservation area since 1966. Characteristic is the slightly crooked church tower on the church square; the oldest part of the Dutch Reformed church dates from before 1300. There is also the old Beek en Hoff monastery, the picturesque drawbridge over the Vecht, and countless historic buildings along the Dorpsstraat. At the edge of the old centre stands the former corn mill 'de Hoop'.

Tante Koosje is on the Kerkstraat, close to that crooked tower. Do come a little early: a stroll along the Vecht and over the drawbridge is a lovely way to start the evening.
