A village in the Vecht region of the province of Utrecht, officially designated a protected historic site since 1966.
One of its landmarks is the (slightly tilted) church tower on the central square. The oldest part of this Dutch Reformed church dates back to before 1300. Other notable sites include the former monastery Beek en Hoff on the Molendijk, which has housed the town hall since 1995. In the center, you'll find the picturesque drawbridge crossing the Vecht river, and many historic buildings still line the Dorpsstraat. On the edge of the old village stands the former grain mill “De Hoop.”
